Liven up your working day with some poetry. National Poetry Day took place on Thursday 9th October with 'work' as the theme. Events were held in libraries, bookshops, theatres, clubs, schools and shops across Scotland to mark National Poetry Day. ![]() Poem by Sheena Blackhall. Events included: 'Poets at Work Exchange' in Glasgow. Poets took part in readings and workshops at workplaces and schools. 'Pregnant Pause' in Edinburgh. A poetry workshop for expectant mothers at The Scottish poetry Library. 'A Celebration of Poetry' with poet Mandy Haggith and singer Agnes Dickson who join edin with the local poetry group in Lairg. 'Biro Babes and Men with Pens'. Motherwell Library held an open session with North Lanarkshire writers'groups. ![]() Poem by Gerry Cambridge. 'Lunchtime Poetry Reading'. Local poets read their work at Shetland Library. The Scottish Poetry Library has released a set of poetry postcards in Scots, Doric, Gaelic and English. The postcards have been sent to schools, libraries and bookshops across Scotland and are available from the Scottish Poetry website. Show work colleagues, friends or family you care by sending the poems as an e-postcard.
