The weekend of 19 and 20 July saw a host of activities for all the family taking place around the SECC, Glasgow Science Centre and The Tall Ship. BBC Scotland was also bursting with activity at the Glasgow River Festival. News reading and sports commentary workshops took place in the BBC Scotland marquee where you could try reading the news alongside the Reporting Scotland team and have a go at sports commentating. Inside, Raven challenged youngsters with a game from the most recent series, Nina demonstrated experiments from Nina and the Neurons and one of Dr Who's most feared enemies, a Dalek, was on display. The Glasgow River Festival also played host to BBC Silk Screens, a series of free outdoor film screenings and live events focusing on the lives of British Chinese in the run up to the Beijing Olympics. There were performances from professional and community Chinese artists throughout Saturday afternoon culminating in a display of abseiling.
