After so much buzz for her Oscar-nominated turn in Unfaithful, Diane Lane has struggled to find a hit. Romantic "fluff-fest" Must Love Dogs is another pooper that finds her falling in love with John Cusack after a bitter divorce. It got a lukewarm reaction from both critics and moviegoers, but Lane still isn't short of work, which proves there's life in the old dog yet. (We mean that in a nice way.)
Dog Tired
Eight-and-a-half minutes of additional scenes include a testimonial in the vein of When Harry Met Sally by actor Sam Lloyd (best known as Ted in TV's Scrubs). Of course it's much less funny than When Harry Met Sally. It's not that Lloyd doesn't know how to deliver a line, but he hasn't got much to work with as he waffles about his dating dilemma, ie "I'm gonna bring her home and the first thing my mom will say is, 'She's a caribou."

In a lethargic commentary for this deleted footage, writer/director Gary David Goldberg explains that the last thing he cut was a scene where Christopher Plummer (playing dad) gives Lane some dating tips. Apparently test audiences grew impatient watching it, because Cusack had yet to come into the story.
Barking
There's a one-minute gag reel but we won't give away the punch line, partly because it's so lame. However, let's just say it involves a mad cow, a joint of beef and an unsuspecting Cusack. Altogether, these extras hardly make for a beefy package. A trailer winds things up for the DVD equivalent of a primped poodle - fluffy and annoying.
