Hardcore horror fans beware: "This is really only for desperate genre fans." At least that's what our review reckoned, but then your star votes tell a different story. If you're keen to take this particular trip into the woods, the requisite shock moments are finely delivered by a cunning 5.1 sound mix. Stray into the special features, though, and you'll take your very own wrong turn into hell.

Story Time With Stan

Rather than have effects legend Stan Winston talk about the gruesome creatures he created for the movie, for some reason he is used to describe the plot of the movie in one of a weak bunch of 'making of' featurettes. There's some behind-the-scenes footage on the effects, but it's so fleeting you've no time to get a good look. Instead, we just get the usual cheesy comments from a cast and crew roped in to help sell the movie. Later on Stan talks us through his career, but this is so short, he's practically reading off his filmography rather than telling us anything new.

Victim's Commentary?

At times you might wonder if director Rob Schmidt and stars Eliza Dushku and Desmond Harrington have been slain and dragged off during their commentary. Long yawning silences aside, they have pitifully little to say apart from gently mocking what's about to happen to their characters on screen. They may sound bored but, trust us, you'll be comatose in comparison.
