This remake of a classic Italian comedy was a moderate hit in the UK (in April 2003), with winning performances from the likes of George Clooney, Sam Rockwell, and William H Macy. Just as well they're funny in the film, because they really turn comedy into a new form of suffering in the tiresome DVD extra features here.
King of the crap heap is a tedious featurette where Sam Rockwell skitters about the set interviewing the other actors while clutching a bottle that's meant to be a microphone. More fun would be had if one of them grabbed the bottle and tried to beat Sam with it, but sadly most are too busy trying to outwit him (with Luis Guzmán coming off particularly badly). The idea behind this was probably to endear us DVD punters to the wacky world of the Collinwood cast. It failed.

Perhaps to numb the pain, a bunch of sleep-inducing cast and crew interviews are also included on the disc. One by one each of the interviewees carefully explain the plot of the movie and the character they play. Watch any of this material and you'll hate the film before you've even seen it. Watch it after and it'll spoil what had been, up until then, a fun time.
