SPECIAL FEATURES
Audio Commentary Stuart Baird plans his films to the last detail, and so for this commentary track he comprehensively deconstructs what he was trying to achieve. He covers the differences from the final script and talks about deleted scenes and where they would have been in the movie. He often touches upon the running theme of darkness in the film, both in the script and visually, where he deliberately went for more of a horror feature feel.
New Frontiers: Stuart Baird on Directing "Nemesis" This is the first of four well produced featurettes that run at around ten minutes each. As the title suggests, this is all about Baird's approach to the franchise. He reveals that he'd never seen a Star Trek movie before he took on the project and likens the "Nemesis" plotline to the James Dean film "Rebel Without a Cause".
A Bold Vision of the Final Frontier By now Baird has made it clear that in taking the helm of the Star Trek franchise he wanted to do things his way. In this featurette on the art direction of the film, we get a close look at the impressive sets and deliberate changes Baird wanted to make to create a different feel from the previous sequels.
A Star Trek Family's Final Journey Ah, but is it the final film? The box office returns would suggest it is, but in this featurette Patrick Stewart discusses why "Nemesis" not only gives closure to the series but also offers a clear opportunity for yet another sequel.
Red Alert! Shooting the Action of "Nemesis" Stuart Baird is in his element when shooting action sequences, as you'll see here. He clearly controls every element of how things are going to work, and Stewart for one is not complaining as it means he gets to drive a dune buggy.
Deleted Scenes There are seven deleted scenes in this section and some of them are quite good. All are introduced by relevant cast or crew members, with Stewart offering a personal insight into one rather poignant scene entitled "Chateau Picard 2267".
