When the American Film Institute was compiling the 100 funniest US comedies, a separate poll of the American public decided that their personal favourite comedy is none other than the Canadian effort "Porky's". 20th Century Fox must then be well chuffed with themselves at receiving this accolade as they release "Porky's" and "Porky's 2: The Next Day" on a two-disc DVD set.
Made back in 1981, it's surprising just how good the picture quality is. It's a little soft, but the detail remains good during the many night-time high jinks and it's a lot clearer than the hoary old VHS releases.
Ew! What happened to the sound? Thin and boxy, both dialogue and music sound really crummy.
The one extra feature is a trailer, but you may be swayed alone into buying this DVD for the sole reason that it has instant chapter access to the shower scene (don't pretend you don't remember it!).
Chapters: 20
Region: 2 and 4
Ratio: 1.85:1 (anamorphic)
