The Epic of Gilgamesh is the world’s oldest surviving poem, written 4,000 years ago about the adventures of tyrannical king Gilgamesh and his wild counterpart Enkidu. In an audio dramatisation of UK Poet Laureate Simon Armitage’s brand-new translation, this ancient story feels as relevant as ever. Following a playback of the audio drama, Simon discusses his Radio 4 version in conversation with director Nadia Molinari, and Orkney-born Scottish composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Erland Cooper - "one of the most unique, consistently engaging composers of his generation".
