Mersea Island is now home to 125 new beach cabins all painted in pastel shades along the seafront.  Many varieties of birds visit Cudmore Grove including cormorant, grebe and merganser.  Walk the sea wall, explore the shore and watch for wildlife.  Cudmore Grove at the eastern end of Mersea Island has views across the Colne estuary.  Arcades, restaurants and a sea aquarium have made Clacton Pier a firm family favourite for years.  Look out towards Felixstowe, and see the Pier Hotel and the Mayflower exhibition centre.  See the newly constructed north slipway replacing the one destroyed in the 1976 fire.  See Southend, a busy tourist destination and place for shopping.  See the sea shore at Old Leigh.
