Sounds Great, but I am glad that you have lost the 'echo' that you had at 6.00 this morning, very disconcerting and I don't remember the originals with that amount of echo.If after saying that, you are prepared to play something for me, how about 'Paint it Black' theme tune from the '60's series 'Tour of Duty' and of course by the Stones.Geoff in Chelmsford
John from Hull
Brilliant, hope it continues permanently BUT let's have more than local Essex news please.
Euan Walker

Surely not! cheers

Hi Pirates,Great to hear the sounds of the pirate stations 40 years on. It brings back memories of 1967. I used to listen in Coventry and now thanks to the internet here in South West France. Please play some Elvis for my wife Julie.Keep the memory alive I will not forget those great days of radio. All the best Big D.
Tom Smedley

Hi Guys, loving the programs, brings back great memories of the 60's. - Dave and Mark, Retford/Notts...

Great to get the Pirates back. Normally only place to hear this sort of music is from america online.
Mike halford
This is such a great idea. Might I sugest that this become a regular summer event, midsummers day to end of August Bank Holiday.
Sue Marchant
What are you having for tea tonight? Sure sounds like fun.
Keith Miller
The best radio in years, bring it back forever. So many memories but just to say I remember every lunchtime with my girlfriend at school on the playing field, listening to Caroline on a transistor radio. 1963 - 65 by the way we are still together listening this lunchtime
Trevor
Sounds good. Should be made permanent. Atleast Radio Jackie has finnaly got a licence.
glyn tunbridge wells
well what great radio presenters dont sound like robots what a breath of fresh air absolute brillant keep enjoying yourselfs is proper radio back
Peter Verley
I echo the sentiments of many others. Radio broadcast from a ship just seems different and so much better. As a huge Radio London fan, I liked Caroline to, I hope the beeb listen and consider having this type of broadcast full time. I am sure the audiences will be huge and larger than normal for local radio broadcasts. The music is brilliant and please lets have more jingles. Also welcome back to the Emporer. I remember him introducing Ginger Baker's Airforce at Wembley during the start of the Mexico World Cup Rally. They could not stop Ginger and had to turn power off. What great times.
Christine Middleton
I haven't stopped dancing and smiling all day - I feel like a teenager again, and it's only the first day. When am I going to get any work done?
ruud
Wonderful, Excellent, Brilliant......Actually:Wasn't CNBC on 192 from the Borkum Riff (Veronica) the very first offshore station for Great Britain....Early 60's.And do remember that Veronica did have an audience in your country from 1960 all the way to 1974.Not to mention RNI from 1970 and the Caroline come- back in 1973.(Do hear you on 1332 AM near Utrecht/Holland)
Mike
I still think some 60's people think is OK to flash boats of Holland seafront, trying to get that one time request played.
Charlie Brown
Listening in Mansfield on the web. What a brilliant idea - well done BBC Essex! Really looking forward to listening over the next five days, and intend to bring a few anorak chums down to Harwich on Tuesday to see the Pirates come ashore :)Well done everyone!

ian surry
is mr walker going to have kiss in the car?
Neil
Doesn't this remind us of those brilliant years of pirate radio. It also makes us realise what a stupid decision the Government made 40 years ago. Come to think of it, they've done nothing but make stupid decisions since! Brilliant job BBC Essex - very well thought out. Keep it on!!
Tom Wislocki

Richard Olive: Postal Communications Manager
From the Office of Postal Orders and CommunicationsIt has been brought to my attention that there may be some misunderstanding concerning the close-down of your radio transmitting station at 1500 hours on 14-08-07. I have to remind you that unless you do so you will be contravening the Moron Offences Act and that the operators and all of those personnel associated with the station will not be allowed re-entry into the United Kingdom, imprisonment for a period of 10 years or a fine of fifty shillings (whichever is the lesser). My officers will be embarking from the key at Harwich to rendevous with the LV 18 at approximately 1530 hours to ensure that you have complied with the above regulation. I will not tolerate such floating of POC regulations.PS Would you please play 'Jailer bring me water' by Bobby Darin for my darling girlfriend Cynthia,All the best, Postal Communications Manager
Neal
Excellent why can't this be a permanent station, I am sure it would have huge listening figures! Keep it up heres to the next time!!
Jukebox Jim
Please create your own Station and stay forever. Memories are flooding back, congrats to BBC Essex for the venture, I say Radio Essex should be inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame for services to Pirate Radio. To ALL former Pirate DJs thanks for giving us all a wonderful youth and for your brave decisions to broadcast in the conditions on board. Thanks again for Pirate Radio. Keep spinning forever.Jukebox Jim

Meg
Oh, what memories this is bringing back! I'm a teenager again!!!! But no parents to tell me to turn it down although the neighbours may have something to say later about the decibel levels here let alone my singing along to these wonderful songs!
Long John
And to think that the prime mover of the dreadful act of parliament was that well known champion of freedom and resident of Stansgate (not a million miles from Harwich) -Tony Benn !
Rockin' T.C.
So that's what the 60's was like,I cant remember!(Nudge,Nudge, say no more.)Pirate BBC Essex should stay on air forever. Not 'arf.

G1 XAJ-KT88
What can we say, personally I think the transmission is great and brings a lump to my throwt, do-not worry about any critical comments, just do it however it comes (be natural I sure you will be)Great!!!
Gary Jordan Brum
Great memories of a young lad messing about with an old valve radio back in 66 pity there's no TV station for the oldies too.
Trevor Mcilveen

hi, i was too young for the 1st wave but i was devoted to caroline from the early 70's, loving awareness. i listened into the wee small hours up here in north east scotland.i recall on a holiday to the norfolk broads hearing 'the days of pearly spencer' and 'hudy gurdy man' it doesn't get more caroline than that.peace jez
Simon (Auckland, New Zealand)
What a great idea...Thank goodness for the internet - must be one of the furthest away listeners down here in the land of the long white cloud!!! Music with some class and substance. Looking forward to dipping in and out over the next few days.

The telly won't get a look in for the next few days this music is sooooo great. What a great era we were bought up in you'll know what I am talking about if you are mid 50's to 60 year olds!! it can never be repeated, but this is the next best thing pity it can't be permanent. Any chance of playing Hi heeled sneakers by Tommy Tucker it is my husbands favourite 60's track and not heard often enough. Keep up the good work and the best of luck for the next few days.
PeeWee, Kent
You guys still have it - Pioneers - enjoy the week - I envy you. There is nothing to match it today despite all the technology!
Colin Larkin, Encyclopedia Of Popular Music
Priceless stuff. So much of my interest in music was founded from listening to Caroline from my home in Essex. I really did change my life. Well done to all.
DAVE
great to hear real music again.
john hopping
Wonderful to hesr radio from the sea again. I will be on holiday next week so will miss the final hour , will it be available later on the website? Also as Tony Blackburn seems to have lost his job at ClassicGold why not get him out there to do a show. When will Johnnie Walker be on?

Maurice Glenholmes
Its fantastic to hear the good old songs from the sixies on PIRATE RADIO ESSEX, i'm listening on the web near Southampton. I'm glad to see that Dave Cash and Roger Day are on from BBC south-east radio, also waiting to hear Keith Skues and all the other DJ's. Good luck and thanks to all who have been involved in this project. It would be great if this could be a permanent station.
Roy Parker

Dee in South West France 27 degrees
Super idea to relive our youth. Please use the Radio Caroline signature tune - it is so emotive. Where is Tony Blackburn - the ijiot we all loved, lost our temper with got bored with but always really liked him.Have a lovely weekend
Chris Prouse
Hi guys - I was the Chief Engineer for Radio Hauraki when we broadcast on 1480 kHz from the pirate ship TIRI 27 miles off the coast of Auckland, New Zealand. Last year we had the 40th Anniversary reunion of our first broadcast in November 1966.I am currently listening on-line to Pirate BBC Essex and would like to offer my sincerest Best Wishes to everyone for a succesful and happy reunion weekend. It was the UK Pirates who inspired two young New Zealanders - David Gapes and Derek Lowe to launch Radio Hauraki as a pirate operation - that forced a change in NZ law allowing private radio. Radio Hauraki was the first to obtain a legal broadcasting warrant and become the icon station it is today.Best wishes Chris Prouse
Alister Wheeldon
Simply wonderful.Listening in ILKESTON DERBY The beeb needs to make this full time. There is nothing for the over 50's on the bbc. The under 25's have radio 1 i extra and 6 music!!. Come on bbc.

This is just great - we took the old Mi Amigo out from Zaandam in Holland way back in 1972, bribing the Dutch customs with crates of beer and the story of the Mi Amigo becoming the Radio Caroline Museum in Harwich....but we started transmitting instead! Such a long time ago.....Pirate Radio Forever!
nutters net thanet kent
good to here you wish it was for ever steve graham fred rob
John Wallis
Good to have you back!Audiences over the next few days are going to be rather higher than normal for BBC local radio! There really is an audience for this BBC - how about making it permanent on local radio AM frequencies across the country - and on the net of course?
Julian Freeman
I was an infant in the classic Caroline years, and absorbed the vibe subliminally because of my older brother. He canoed out and round the ship to say hello, and got arrested when he landed back at Dovercourt, and got a thick ear from mum and dad! Sounds fantastic - there is a listeners market for this station and it should be on more often. I'll be tuned in all week. Thanks!
Alan Paul
GREAT-GREAT! Listening here in Spain and brings back all those great memories - couldn't we have you back on a permanent basis?
edward emery
A big medium wave signal from CAROLINE would revive British Radio. Not a bad signal on 765 in Newcastle Staffs 200 miles away at 10am using a 40 inch frame antenna...Good Luck.....
moggy

Hi All, listening in Wakefield, West Yorkshire via the web. The memories are flooding back of those wonderful days and the sound of offshore radio, Caroline, London and of course our very own Radio 270. They will never be forgotten and they have never been equalled! We will never hear the like of them again. Radio has come full circle and the only place to hear personality radio and a very eclectic mix of music these days is the BBC! Every good wish to each and every one of you and thanks for the memories!
Dave . in Colchester
if the 6 days are as good as the first three hours you all deserve medals for bringing back the great PIRATE sounds. well done
Mike Gower
Great to hear it back and lets remember Tony Allan who should of course be there as well (but probably is in spirit)
ian lauder
oh me lost youth!!! - sure beats 'big brother'....let no man forget monday august 14th nineteen hundred and sixty seven.....a law passsed that day actually confirmed that a ship operating a radio station in international waters was and still is 'legal'....just that the laws now sanction state sponsored 'piracy' to stop offshore radio...
Chris Harrinngton
Hello all, what a brilliant idea. I work with one of your crew (Mike Barrington) in Sealand. Living in Sealand you are surrounded by the history of the pirate days and it's great to recreate
