Leigh-on-Sea dancer Matthew Cutler is of the new dancers in the third series of BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing. Matthew won the British and UK Closed Professional Latin Championships in 2004, and the World and European Championships this year.
Matthew started dancing at the age of eight, when he used to go along to the local church hall every Saturday. During the week he'd work on his routine with his mum, impressing his teachers when he went back to class.
Thirty-two year old Matthew's celebrity partner was My Family star Siobhan Hayes. Their waltz came under criticism from the judges, and they found themselves in the final two. In the end it was Matthew and Siobhan had the lowest score and were out of the competition.
Matthew expressed his disappointment: "It's not nice being the first out. It would have been nice to stay in it a bit longer, so that we could get used to it and maybe do a bit of Latin. I'm a little bit gutted."
It might have been the end of Siobhan, however, Matthew can still be seen each week when the professional dancers take to the floor.
