BBC Radio Devon at the County Show

BBC Radio Devon will be bringing you all the flavour of this year's Devon County Show with six of our programmes coming live from the site. Plus we've got a great line up of entertainment on stage in the marquee too.

If you're coming along to the 2008 Devon County Show at Westpoint on May 15, 16 and 17, make sure you pop in to the BBC marquee on Avenue K.

Six of our programmes will be broadcast live from the show and our stage will be brimming over with entertainment on all three days.

We've asked a host of local musicians and entertainers to come along and perform both on and off air, and several of our presenters will be there to meet the listeners too.

And if you're not coming along, make sure you tune in to join in the fun.

Here's the line up in the BBC marquee over the three days:

Thursday:

  • 6am - 8.55am:
Countwide Breakfast with Dominic Busby broadcast live from the showground. Dom will be taking a look behind the scenes before the gates are open to the public.
  • 10am - 2pm:
Live music on stage from local artists including Rosa Rebecka, Jake Foan and Jenna Witts.
BBC presenters including Pippa Quelch, Danny Lawrence, Richard Green, Matt Woodley and John Govier will be in the marquee too.
  • 2pm - 5pm:
Richard Green's Afternoon Show will be broadcast live from the stage. Come along and see how the programme is put together, enjoy the music and meet some of Richard's guests.

Friday:

  • 10am - midday:
Local musicians Jackie Oates, James Dumbelton and Amy Newton will be performing on stage.
BBC presenters including David Fitzgerald, Matt Woodley, Howard James, John Govier, Michael Chequer and Pippa Quelch will be in the marquee.
  • Midday - 2pm:
Michael Chequer will be presenting the lunchtime phone-in live from the stage. Join in by calling 0845 301 1034 or have your say in person if you're visiting the show today.
  • 2pm - 5pm:
More live music on the BBC stage, this time from Amy Newton and Mark Barnwell.
There's Professor Jephcott's Flea Circus too and, at 3pm, you can join Pippa Quelch and John Harris for our version of Gardeners' Question Time.
The show will be recorded for future use on BBC Radio Devon so come along and ask your question.
  • 5pm - 6pm:
Michael Chequer is live on air from the BBC stage with a round-up of the days news and events.

Saturday:

  • 9am - midday:
David Fitzgerald will be broadcasting his show live from the marquee. Falklands hero Simon Weston is Fitz's special guest. And if you're going along you might even be able to try some of the tasty morsels that the Saturday Chef takes along - but you'll have to be quick if you want to beat Fitz!
  • Midday - 2.30pm:
Live music on stage from Cole Stacey and Ellie Williams plus BBC presenters Michael Chequer, Brasso, Fitz, Matt Woodley and John Govier will be mingling with the crowds.
  • 2.30pm - 5pm:
Brasso will be presenting his afternoon show live from the stage in his own inimitable style. Don't pass by if you don't want to end up on air!

There's lots more going on throughout the three days too; we've stands and stalls telling you more about the BBC, Digital UK will be there, we've information about our move to Sutton Harbour in Plymouth, wildlife film-maker Andrew Cooper's coming along too, plus you can find out more about the BBC's Natural History Unit.

You can have your picture taken in front of the weather map - and our colleagues from Spotlight will be presenting live from the showground too.

Tune in or turn up - either way it promises to be a lot of fun.
