The festival now attracts over 70,000 people. Over 10 days the town has many events which then culminate in a weekend finale with fireworks and music on Mazey Eve, then parades and stalls and performance throughout the town on Mazey Day, followed by Quay Day on the Sunday.

|  | The unique summer festival of 'Golowan' has once again arrived. Celebrating 'The midsummer Feast of John (Gol - Jowan)' was revived in 1991 by Alverton School, members of Kneehigh Theatre, Penwith Penninsula Project and Penzance Town Council.

Now attracting over 70,000 visitors, it's life started as a 1 day festival known as Mazey day which has now grown into a 10 day celebration with national and international performers.

Full of vibrancy and colour, the Golowan Festival fuses together music, theatre and the art giving the public a chance to enjoy local the work of local and international artists and performers. The line-up this year is jam packed from Thursday 19th June through to Quay Day on Sunday 29th.

The grand finale ends in a weekend bonanza starting with Golowans traditional firework display, 'Midsummer Fire' which takes place at Jubilee Pool on Friday 28th June, where a vast crowd gathered along the promenade to watch.

The following day is 'Mazey Day' and includes all day processions, street performers, stalls and live music. Schools in and around Penzance proudly presented their Mazey Day creations throughout the day during parade times for the public to see.
