Complaint
This edition of Morning Live discussed the increase in harassment of legitimate Blue Badge holders. A viewer complained about the focus of the conversation and a lack of reference to the importance of larger parking spaces. The ECU considered whether the programme met the BBC Guidelines on impartiality.
Outcome
Whilst acknowledging the complainant wished the focus of the discussion to have been elsewhere, the ECU noted the programme was within its rights to decide the parameters of the conversation and that in this instance it had chosen to highlight why incidents of abuse of Blue Bade Holders appeared to be on the increase and the impact this can have. There was no editorial requirement for the programme to examine the allocation or use of larger parking bays designated for Blue Badge holders.
