Summary of complaint
We received complaints from some readers unhappy with the original headline of the article "Reform proposes £50bn welfare bill cut with changes to disability payments for millions".
Our response
The article was first published late on Saturday 15 August and the headline was amended overnight and again the next morning.
Although it’s our standard practice to update articles as more information becomes available, we acknowledge that the earlier headlines did not make sufficiently clear that these were Reform UK proposals and did not adequately attribute the claimed £50bn saving or explain what the proposed savings would entail.
We discussed the concerns raised with senior editors and added a note of correction which explains that the earlier headlines were amended.
