Deeps breaths everyone - the winner of The Voice UK is announced...

What a fantastic show! So much happened in tonight’s
skillathon (including performances from Ed Sheeran and Maroon 5), we were left
utterly breathless, at times a bit teary and just a little dizzy after that
whirlwind of wowzers.

Bo sung heart-wrenching hit ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ and her
heavenly voice tiptoed over the stirring violins. The coaches fell over
themselves to praise her unique style. We had chills, and they multiplied
throughout that.

Leanne gave us a two minute lesson in WOW singing ‘It’s A
Man’s Man’s Man’s World’. She made it clear that it is actually a woman’s world
and she is the queen. Tom seemed to think so, getting to his feet after she
blew the studio away. We took a much needed moment to pick our jaw from the
floor.

Tyler James delivered a superb rendition of ‘I’ll Be There’
and all the TJ trademarks with it. Falsetto? Check. Shoes with no socks on?
Check. Goosebumps? Check. Will said Tyler’s
a survivor. Was that a rhyme? That’s unlike Will… Jessie hankered after that
date. We fainted momentarily. We’re good now…

Vince Kidd gave a stunning performance singing, ‘Many Rivers
To Cross’. He sailed through it on a canoe of cool and drenched the audience
with his powerful jet stream of high notes. The coaches loved it. Our ears
loved it.

We were treated to a little chemistry lesson courtesy Bo and
Danny, who sent sparks flying with ‘Read All About It’ and got so close at one point
we thought they might bang heads. Danny turned a rap into delightful melodic
verses and Bo sung over the marching band with purpose. Take that, Jubilee
procession (soz, your majesty!) AMAZING.

Tom and Leanne knocked us out with a double-strength dose of
talent. They sizzled together singing ‘Mama Told Me Not To Come’. Mama was
wrong and they were right never to listen to her. Who listens to their mum
anyway? That’s so uncool. (Hi mum!)

Will and Tyler were suspended in mid air as they pumped out
mega-hit OMG. Here’s a rave we never thought we’d get invited to, and yet we
all have a front row view of the duo’s foot-stomping talent-fest. Man, we love
this show…

Jessie and Vince gave us a mega-fresh masterclass in fierce.
They sung Jessie’s hit ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ amid blazing flames. If that ain’t a statement,
we don’t know what is. A solid performance with tricks, trills AND an acapella
finish. These two are HOT.

Then we had to say goodbye to the artist with the lowest
votes. Here’s where we (begrudgingly) said farewell to Vince Kidd. It’s been
quite a journey. Well done Vince, we think you rock!

Let's give it up for The Voice UK runners up!...

Bo, Leanne and Tyler then took us for a trip down memory
lane, singing their favourite songs from throughout their time on the show. It
seems like only yesterday they were sending the coaches spinning at the Blind
Auditions. Now look at them! *Proud face*

And then the moment of reckoning came, Holly held an
agonising silence before announcing that Leanne
Mitchell is the winner of The Voice UK! Leanne you go, girl! You deserve it and
we can’t wait to see what lies in store for you!

Semi-finals! Semi finals! Did we mention that it’s the semi-finals? Wow, what a show…

The final eight polished their weapons (or voices, whatever) to fight for a place in the finals and Will briefly waved his Olympic torch at everyone. With one act from each team definitely leaving, the semi-finalists went hard to avoid going home.

First up was one-woman-choir Ruth Brown. She sang ‘The Voice Within’, on The Voice, and her voice rattled the ceiling. An emotional performance, Ruth shed her soul and some tears. We may have got a little choked up too (but don’t tell anyone).

Vince Kidd ditched his trademark tie-die for an all-black ensemble but he flaunted his trademark soul singing ‘Back To Black’.

Max Milner looked every inch the front man as he sung The Police classic, ‘Every Breath You Take’. He made it look as easy and natural as breathing itself and at one point, Danny looked genuinely love-struck. Awww.

Jaz invited his children’s choir to sing ‘Let It Be’ with him. It was a sermon of soul and made us feel all warm inside. Shazam!

Leanne Mitchell looked pretty in pink and tackled a Whitney song without of a trace of fear. What a woman. She hit every note in existence and had the coaches on their feet. Job well done Leanne!

Becky Hill looked elegant and looked a star singing er, ‘Like A Star’. A pleasant surprise from the little pocket rocket, she proved her versatility and impressed all of the coaches.

Bo Bruce twirled around in ticker tape and tickled our eardrums with her cashmere voice. Singing ‘Charlie Brown’ she stepped things up a gear and smashed it. Bo selecta! What? If Jessie can say it…

Tyler James avoided getting tossed into a salad of ballads and took an almighty risk by singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. He can pull off wearing pink and he can pull off a Queen song. Amazing.

And to top everything off, Cheryl treated us to a world premiere performance of her new single ‘Call My Name’. Her dive into the throng of dancers, her moves… Just everything was WOWEE.

Wowee. Week four of the live shows has made us feel a bit like this ___________. Yep, we are speechless after tonight’s show. After all the pressure-fuelled performances, pyrotechnics and that SPINNING PIANO, we are stuck for words.

After a slight technical malfunction, (that’s live TV, folks) Jessie and her team recovered like champions and kicked off the show in spectacular style singing ‘We Are Young’. They set the world on fire, they burned brighter and they were phenomenal. Full strike.

Max Milner risked it for a biscuit (or place in the semi-final, whatever) and proved quite nifty with a loop pedal during his rendition of ‘Black Horse and The Cherry Tree’. It made will.i.am feel good, and Danny thought he smashed it.

Cassius stood on a spinning piano for his knock-out performance of ‘Turning Tables’ (gettit?) For viewers who fancied singing along, the lyrics were even on screen! He’s so considerate… Shortly after this, a very dizzy Cassius crashed into the audience, but it was worth it because the coaches loved it.

Bo Bruce (whose hair seems to have miraculously grown in the last week?) turned in another mesmerising performance singing, ‘Love the Way You Lie’. The coaches loved the way she sang.

Vince Kidd sang ‘My Love Is Your Love’ and we loved it. In true Vince Kidd style, he transformed the original and poured some reggae sauce all over it. *Does the Butterfly*.

Aleks Josh gave a chilled out rendition of ‘Better Together’ that was awash with beach vibes. So much so that we were tempted to roll up our jeans. Our better judgement (i.e. security) prevented us from doing so.

Becky Hill rocked out and unleashed a shocking stampede of awesomeness, singing ‘Seven Nation Army’. It was seven times dope. Tom launched into an anecdote about Janis Joplin. That’s how you know it was good.

David Julien proved that Voice fame hasn’t gone to his beautiful head of curls and turned up with about a million suit cases. What a diva (not really, they’re just props). Singing ‘She Will Be Loved’, we reckon he will be loved for that very performance.

Toni Warne (AKA The Lady in Red) sang ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’ but she needn’t worry about that – her performance was flawless.

Danny O’Donoghue joined his artists to close the show with a bang. Singing ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’, Danny led his troopers into glory and they assembled themselves on set like an art installation. Pure class.

So four artists must go tomorrow, but before that happens. Let us know, who were your favourites? What were the funniest moments? Did anyone make you cry/ swoon/ faint?

Bye!

OK, two words… And if all that wasn’t enough, PALOMA FAITH will be taking to the stage this weekend – she was Danny’s lovely battle advisor but now she’s back to perform her new single.

So, I know what you’re all thinking ‘TELL US WHO’S SINGING WHAT THIS SATURDAY, REGGIE!” Your wish is my command…

Max Milner – Black Horse and the Cherry Tree (KT Tunstall)

Bo Bruce – Love The Way You Lie (Part 2) (Rihanna)

Aleks Josh – Better Together (Jack Johnson)

David Julien – She Will Be Loved (Maroon 5)

Becky Hill – Seven Nation Army (The White Stripes)

Cassius Henry – Turning Tables (Adele)

Toni Warne – Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word (Elton John)

Vince Kidd – My Love Is Your Love (Whitney Houston)

There you go – disappointingly, there’s no Chaka Demus & Pliers but I’ll get over it.

If music be the food of love then, consider us head over heels after that veritable banquet of awesomeness. WHAT. A. SHOW.

Week two of the live shows had standing ovations, heated discussions and a knock-knock joke. Most importantly, it had ten fresher-than-fresh performances as Teams Danny and Jessie took to the stage and sung live, loud, and like they’ve never sung before.

Toni Warne opened the show with roof-shattering performance that was all zoom and turbo boom. Singing ‘Proud Mary’, we’d say she made Mary and her coach Jessie very proud indeed…

Max Milner treated us to a bit of percussive guitar and impressed with his ear-melting voice, singing ‘Free Fallin’. Jessie said it made her heart content. Aw.

Ruth-Ann St.Luce made all sorts of shapes with her mouth (good tip, Jessie) and surrounded by flickering candles as she sung ‘Promise This’. FYI candles ain’t got not nothing on this girl – she lit up that stage with her multi-octave skills.

Surrounded by a limber throng of dancers, Hannah Berney switched things up and turned ‘Cry Me A River’ into a rousing, rocky concoction fit for a queen. It was so good it could reduce you to tears.

Vince Kidd’s vest was tie-die for and his voice was smoother than peanut butter (unless you have crunchy peanut butter). Singing ‘Always On My Mind’ he even got the nod from Tom Jones, who knew Elvis by the way.

Aleks Josh looked very dapper singing a bit of swing with ‘Dream A Little Dream Of Me’. It was dreamy. That was an obvious joke, but better than will.i.am’s knock-knock attempts…

Cassius Henry was in the hood (sorry), as he stepped out of his R&B comfort zone and gave a blissful rendition of ‘Paradise’ NOT ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’.

David Julien’s vocals were as tight as his curls and his version of ‘Sweet Disposition’ made will.i.am say: “meulhsuagefuaj”. Exactly.

Becky Hill’s impressed the coaches and crowd with ‘Good Luck’. She climbed the stairs, and her voice climbed the scales for an outstanding performance.

Bo Bruce closed the show singing ‘Running Up That Hill’ and quite beautifully, too. It was enchanting, captivating and mesmerising and had all the coaches on their feet.

In our opinion it was a superb show. But it’s not all about us, we want YOUR opinions. So let us know, how did you think the artists coped with performing live?

Catch you later!

x
