I’m making a series for Radio 2 about film music and have been looking back at the soundtracks that mean a lot to me. Which film scores are important to you?

I'm currently doing a tour with the CBSO playing some of my favourite film music - some of my choices like Silent Running and Planet Of The Apes might seem a little left field. What are your favourite unconventional movie scores?

There's a terrific new movie out later this month called Good Vibrations. It tells the story of Terri Hooley - the man who discovered The Undertones and their single Teenage Kicks -  arguably one of the greatest pop records ever recorded.

This year I went to the Larmer Tree Festival without my band The Dodge Brothers but I've still kept up the tradition of doing a special musical blog. This is my solo tribute to the classic Hollywood film starring Gene Kelly.
