Remember you can send your Memory Tape to us anytime you like: lauren.6music@bbc.co.uk. Here's Liv to tell all:</p><p>"When
I was 15 my boyfriend at the time made me a cd and sprayed it with his Jean
Paul Gaultier eau de toilette. I played it so often that it eventually wore
out, but I can still remember the tracklist off by heart.</p>

<p>I
think he was just putting together a mix of stuff he thought was cool, and it
is a great mix. But to me it summed up that perfect, palpable feeling of
rebellion and romance. Considering we would spend ALL our time sneaking off to
snog, or do things we shouldn’t have really have been doing - those three years
were summed up on this CD, and I can almost hear the music whenever I get a
whiff of Jean Paul Gaultier on the tube."</p><p><strong>Smells Like Teen Spirit<br></strong></p>

Personally, we see more My Morning Jacket and it’s a marching wave of brass, woodland
folk and forlorn lyrics. They formed in 2008 having released two albums; 2011's
<em>For Physical Fitness</em>, and 2013's <em>Ephemera</em>. The band is currently
hard at work on a new album which should be out in the spring of next year.
They also play a free gig in Manchester tonight if you’re from that side of the

After years of spinning and producing solely one genre it was time to evolve...”. And evolve he has, bringing us this dark slice of late night urban Burial-esque dirge.</p><p>*this might be slightly tricky to find, but just head past the SoundCloud embded, underneath that you'll see a button called 'download'.</p><p><strong></strong></p>

project &amp; live band from the 'North'. It Is What It Is” so say the four
piece from Yorkshire. The two main members are named John Wynne and Gary
Wainman and they used to record at their local hangout on the banks of the
river Hull (before it was pulled down, we have assurances it was nothing to do
with them), and according to the information they provide:  “they dress like geography teachers on a day
trip”. The influences here are plain to see and apparently Erol Alkan’s a fan,
plus it might not surprise you that they recorded a Gang Of Four cover for a Chud
Records tribute to the 1979 album ‘Entertainment’, released as a special
Cassette Store Day release last weekend. </p><p> </p>

in 2005 and hail from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and are part of the so-called
Magic Twig Community; a group of musicians hiding out in the woods with their purely
analogue recording studio. So that sets the scene perfectly for the sound of
this band. Think classic folk-psych, purely analogue you understand, they apparently:
“display a fondness for tube-amps, 12-strings, tambourines, spring reverb, and
the analogue sounds of decades past”. Their album <em>This is the Young
Sinclairs</em> is out on Ample Play on 13th October and this track is
the opener. </p><p></p>

Today's Desert Island Disco comes from a student who doesn't have much money and needs to fill the time just...having a good time. Remember you can email us with your party tunes anytime to our 24 hour hotline: lauren.6music@bbc.co.uk. Here's listener Alexander Lovell to tell us just how he filled those hours with fun and memories, whilst on a strict budget:<p>"This summer I have compiled a playlist
that for myself and my friends that, I feel, truly captures the nature of Desert
Island Disco.</p>

<p>I am an art student most of the year but
since June I have been working. Most of my friends have either just finished
university or are just about to go, so none of us have any money. Most of us do
have jobs, but not the kind of jobs that really provide enough for us to go
away, especially living in London. We therefore had to learn, as I'm sure many
have before us, how to become masters of living for the weekend. Easy some
might say, but not for students. Weekends for students are of course the only
days you know you don't have to do any work, whereas the other days you might.</p>

<p>So, this compilation is an amalgamation
of all the top tracks that have kept us all on the dance floor until sun rise,
drinking cheap cider and even cheaper sacks of wine.</p>

<p>It was my last day at work last Friday (19th
September) so I’m now back at university. It would be amazing if this could get
played soon, as 6 Music has kept me sane this summer. The amount of fond
memories could mean this is more of a memory tape... but really it’s for
filling the dance floor!"</p>

<p>As a wise man said: “There's more to life
than parties. There are after parties.”</p>

<p><strong>Long Broke Summer</strong></p>

<p><strong>10pm</strong></p><ol>
<li>Baby I'm Yours - Breakbot (I've never met
anyone who doesn't like this song and it always gets the party started)</li>
<li>Shake your tail feather - ray charles (we
may be in our early 20s, but we know how to twist)</li>
<li>Canned Heat - Jamiroquai</li>
<li>Rock the house - Gorrilaz</li>
<li>Like That - Black Eyed Peas (this track
with Q tip and cee lo green is often over looked)</li>
<li>Trick Me - Kelis</li>
<li>Scenario - Tribe Called Quest
(masterclass from busta rhymes)</li>
<li>Make Some Noise - Beastie boys</li>
</ol><p><strong>1am</strong></p><p><strong> </strong>9. No Diggity - Blackstreet bondax remix
(now the hip hops over, time to start on something more electric)</p>

<p>10. Praise You - Fat boy slim maribou state
remix</p>

<p>11. Inspector Norse - Todd Terje (now all the
house music fans are in bed lets get some proper dance tunes on)</p>

<p>12. Church - Jacques Lu Cont</p>

<p>13. Galvanize - Chemical Brothers</p>

<p>14. Don't Mug Yourself - The Streets
(something a little mental to give you a boost).</p>

<p><strong>4 am</strong></p>

<p>15. Shining Star Nnekka Joe Goddard remix
(people may have been flagging but when this comes on, everyones back on their
feet. Made our secret secret garden part. none of us enough money to go to the
festival so we had our own)</p>

<p>16. Neighborhood - Zed Bias (now for the
hardcore ravers, the garage section)</p>

<p>17. with a little bit of luck - dj luck (with
a little bit of luck we can make it through the night)</p>

<p>18. flowers - sweet female attitude</p>

<p><strong>7am</strong></p>

<p>19. Son Of A Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield
(to calm everyone down)</p>

<p>20. I Like You - Phyllis Nelson (to end the
party, when you can finally slink off with that special someone)</p><p></p>
