And breathe.
Things go past so quickly that you don't get much time to stop and reflect. This is me stopping and reflecting a little bit. It has been an insane few months. Starting the new Radio 1 show on the 1st April seems like years ago but it's only been 3 months but what a ridiculous 3 months. I am ruddy loving every second of it. And thank you for your continuous stream of texts/tweets/emails and general amazing levels of involvement in the show, it means a lot to me and the whole team. And we'd be nothing without you. Literally. If you weren't there, it would just be a loser sat in a room talking to himself. But enough of my home life...
So, um, the Hackney Weekend was a goodun then! Our biggest ever event EVER EVER EVER and there are too many highlights to list so here's a lowlight: The reality of the Saturday night coverage in between the links in a rainy treehouse on BBC Three waiting for Jay Z...
What do we do next year? 'Radio 1's Big Weekend In Space?' In all seriousness, what a privilege to be a small part of it. It's a cool place to work this is.
Next week we're going to be live from Glasgow every day in the build up to T in The Park. Edith and I are doing the telly coverage on BBC Three all weekend and then I'm off for two weeks in the sun so this is the last chance I'll get to blog at any length probably.
We are making next week's radio shows very different to a normal outside broadcast. No accommodation has been booked. Instead, I will be 'sofa surfing' at some willing listener's houses each night. All the details will be announced on Moyles' show Monday morning at 8am but it will be a ridiuculous week.
A quick note on other stuff...We couldn't have been happier with the reaction to Britain Unzipped on BBC Three. It's great to be able to make some nonsense on TV and well as Radio. I love working with my TV wife Russell Kane and there will be an announcement about Series 2 shortly. But shhhh, I haven't told you that.
Anyway, I have to go and sort out today's show. Hope you're all well and happy and you're looking forward to a proper bit of summer. If you've just done exams, hope they've all gone well and you can now put your feet up for a bit.
Also, do let me know of any thoughts on the blog/the show/my hair/shirts etc. I do try and read all the emails and comments when I get a second. Also, if any of you need advice and all that to get into radio and stuff, let me know too. Happy to help.
To finish, here's me pulling a weird face with David Guetta *clang*.
See ya
