I've come to expect the ridiculous from this tour so far. From shovelling cow mess, to drinking tomato and egg smoothies, it's all been weird, but a lot of fun. I'd like to also add 'getting rescued from the North Sea' to that list. Today it was all about Thom and the rest of the RNLI lifeguards at Seaburn beach. Thom is 20, and works as a lifeguard during the summer as a break from his job as a marine engineer. He does this from May to September and absolutely loves it - as do they all. A really nice bunch of lads doing a really fun, chilled out job - well, in between the emergencies that is.

I woke up in Hull today after the Moyles Karaoke night last night, did my show and drove straight to the North East - Sunderland to be precise and to Seaburn Beach. I'm very fond of the North East, and the coastline is beautiful and thankfully the weather was gorgeous today, unlike every other day!

So, I was a busy boy today and they got me to do a bit of beach training first up - a 200m dash. I almost died. Then I did a little safety announcement to the paddlers over the beach buggy tannoy - what is it with me and microphones? Add to this a wacky Baywatch style photoshoot which I did for the local paper and it turned in to a very eventful day.

The big challenge set by Jo Whiley was to get rescued by Thom 60 metres out to sea! So, I donned my very tight wet suit and dived in, pretended to be drowning and was rescued very swiftly and professionally by Thom. A radio first perhaps? My first broadcast whilst drowning...

So, it's now on to Scotland for the final leg of the tour...

Today it was all about Demi who works on the Deli at a big supermarket in Lincoln. Now, this is supposed to be the summer tour, but so far, it has rained every day. Oh well. Demi is 17 and is in the middle of a media course at Lincoln college and she works at the supermarket most weekends and is doing loads of overtime for the summer months so she can save up for a bit of a weekend at Leeds Festival next month.

Today it was all about Mersea Island which is part of the glamorous Essex coastline. I went to visit Emily who works long hours in the Seafood Shack on the island. They have a lovely array of bits and bobs - whelks, cockels, oysters and jellied eels. Jellied eels are my new worst food, so congratualtions to them.

Met a load of friendly fans of Radio 1 at the Shack who came down to say hello. I was straight to work selling the seafood and ice creams to passers by. I only messed up the till twice.

Emily is 16 and has just done her GCSEs and, unlike Anna from the aquarium yesterday, she wasn't quite as passionate about forging a career in seafood! Good day though, and I was bought a celebratory pint afterwards for being such a brave little soldier for eating the seafood.

I'm blogging in the Love Wagon on the way to the next destination. I'm still not being told where though. It's up north - currently zooming through Cambridgeshire.

Swine flu is no laughing matter. We have been instructed to wipe down the studio every morning. So I have been. 4:10am everyday. I found a cleaner's jersey too...

After a restful-ish weekend, it was all go for week 2 of the Summer Jobs Tour. Today, I was sent to Portsmouth to meet Anna - a 16 year old who works at an aquarium. I love a good aquarium so I was looking forward to it and I was right to! Anna was lovely and had just finished her GCSEs and was really keen to work with animals after college and Uni. It was really nice to meet someone so passionate about their weekend/summer job.

I got there and was straight to work helping out cut up bits of old fish to use as food. I gutted a few squid and chopped up some other tiddlers:

Today's destination was Strabane in Northern Ireland! I recieved the phonecall from Chris this morning whilst I was at Manchester Aiport. The flight was at 7:45 and 30 mins later, I was in Belfast. Quick drive to Strabane to meet the lovely Rioghnach (pronounced Ree-owner) who had just finished her GCSEs and was saving some money to go to a summer college in a few weeks and go back to 6th form in September.

She works at Strabane Play Club for kids aged between 4 and 14 to keep them amused during the summer. It's a lovely and friendly set up there and the kids were good laugh. I was instructed by Jo Whiley to teach them 'Poker Face' by Lady GaGa and 'Boom Boom Pow' by The Black Eyed Peas'. Both tasks completed and enjoyed actually!

I'm now sitting in the excellent BBC Radio Ulster studios in Belfast about to go on air for the final time this week...

So, it was Bath on Monday, Swansea yesterday and today, Chris Moyles sent me off to a beauty salon in a little place in South Wales called Ammonford. I met Ffion and her sister Lowri who were lovely and I was forced to have my nails painted and get a spray tan.I also took time out to answer their phones and book in some appointments.A lovely old lady rang up to get her tash waxed next Tuesday at 10:30.

Then, Jo Whiley suggested I get my legs waxed.I thought this might happen, and there was nothing I could really do.Never give in to peer pressure.Like I do.

And we're just stopping off for a bacon double cheeseburger as we rush back to BBC Bristol to do the show at 4pm!

By the way, the photo of me breathing in with my top off was requested by the girls in the salon as they want to send it to Heat magazine. I said that if a picture of an untoned skinny boy gets 'torso of the week', I'd go back and do a days work in the salon for them for free.

I found out from Chris Moyles this morning that today's task was to travel to a smoothie shop in Wales.So, after a three hour rainy train journey, I arrived.Dan, a second year criminology student, got in contact with Radio 1 to get me to come along to the shop. Also there were Zoe, James, Darren, another James and Jake.

I had a little chat with the lovely people in there, learnt how to use a coffee machine, put together a smoothie and then was set a challenge by Jo Whiley to make an English breakfast smoothie.Yes, that meant eggs, beans, sausages, tomatoes and brown sauce.Disgusting.If I drank it, Dan would get his favourite Blink 182 record played on the radio.I did it, spewed a bit, but the record got played!

Here I go then. It's simple. 2 weeks, 10 different destinations, 10 really boring summer jobs to try and liven up.

The first one was Emily's job in Bath at a bridal shop.

I used to do this at Uni (I will try and dig out the photo) but it appeared in the papers yesterday that people are starting a new craze by lying down in odd places and taking photos of it. Like this:

I had a fantastic morning at the home of cricket, Lords, yesterday. Excitement is building for The Ashes which starts tomorrow! If you don't know what the Ashes are, then have a look at this brief history. Suffice it to say, that it is one of the greatest sporting rivalries bewteen England and Australia.

Although the majority of the attention will be on the men's game, the England women's team are also playing Australia. It has been in the press lately about the incredible success of the team, They are world champions and currently hold the Ashes. The women's game has come a long way since the days of them running around in skirts. It has taken years of hard work for the women's game to be at the level it is now and it's brilliant for the future of cricket.

Now, I went along to see just how good they are. I had a practice session with them. Turns out - very. I got bowled by a girl. World champions though, so no shame really.

I love a bit of cricket and used to play loads, but haven't for a couple of years and was a bit rusty!

I decided to pop down to Wimbledon yesterday and queue up for some ground pass tickets which allow you to wander the grounds and all the courts except the good ones basically. It took about 3 and a half hours but was well worth it as it's a great place to spend a lazy day.
