This webcam image was spotted by eagle eyed listener 'Dr. Dave' who's listening in Japan this morning. Thanks for spying on us...

No wonder our listening figures are going up with a studio atmosphere like this:

Also, Ian who works on my show and Chris' show was wearing a jumper that I couldn't quite believe. It has pheasants on it. Is this the new 'thing'?

This photo was taken by Producer Neil during a song on this morning's show. The all day money challenges are really taking their toll. Mess.

Day 3 was a lot of fun though, as have the others to be honest. I had to cook lunch for my fellow DJs on a budget of £20.

I completed the task with about 50p left and it turned out to taste quite nice! Have a look at the video of my day and find out what I cooked!

Who knows what tomorrow has in store?....Find out at 7:20 with Me and Moyles.

Hello all, there are some relatively new types of websites which are becoming quite big and they are written around one word answers to specific questions...

For example:

I think these are the future, I love them!

Yesterday was the longest day of my life...

OK, a bit of an over the top headline (and a quote from 24), but it was basically awful.

Chris Moyles set me the first in a long week of challenges yesterday morning and I was told I had to busk on The London Underground all day with only a karaoke machine, a tambourine, a recorder and an accordian. The aim was to collect as much money as possible from passing miserable commuters.

It was demoralising in many ways, but also strangely fun. I completed the task of singing at 3 Tube stations - Leicester Square, Waterloo and Canary Wharf and made a decent £18.51. I now have to use this money to fund today's task whatever that might be. Find out what happens to me next by listening all day today!

Have a look at my video from yesterday. Painful.

Greg James|10:34 UK time, Saturday, 24 January 2009

I was annoyed yesterday morning that I'd decided to take a holiday when the brilliant Kiefer Sutherland AKA 'Jack Bauer' from the TV show '24' was on with Chris Moyles.

Please listen again to the interview - it was excellent. He was on at about 8:10am.

I am a huge fan of '24' and was gutted that I couldn't hang around after my usual early show to stalk him.

However, in an amazing twist of fate, I was out with a couple of mates last night and he walked in to the restaurant I was in! This wasn't a particularly fancy restaurant and I was just tucking into a pizza when all of a sudden I saw him. I've never been so star struck. I ordered my mate to come with me and take a photo immediately, I'd had a couple of drinks so I was full of courage. Here's the result:

It's everso slightly awkward isn't it.

Here's my favourites that you sent in...

All nice, but a little bit awkward

Glum-bog Toilet Chair...

Good evening and welcome along. I hope you are all well. Just wanted to pop on here to let you know I'm not dead. Having a good week off, not done much really, visited a couple of old mates, popped back to see the parents, watched 'Slumdog Millionaire'** and stayed in the 2009 equivalent of Fawlty Towers. Here is a photograph of the toilet seat in my room. With a little bit of wet toilet paper, I made it into a sad face, a glum bog, if you will:

sadbog.jpg

I think I'm doing Vernon's show on Saturday, so I'll be back on the wireless then. Probably.

**'Slumdog Millionaire' is one of the best films I've seen in years. I'm no film expert but I can sniff out a decent one, and this is absolutely excellent. Believe the hype about this one, it very much gets the Early Breakfast thumbs up.

Or, in the style of James King (who is Radio 1's very hard to please film critic) "Amazing film, one of the best ever, great performances, as good as it gets...2 stars". hehe

Just what a professional chef needs of an afternoon, me arriving with a load of strange garage food...

Meltdown.

Greg James|14:58 UK time, Wednesday, 14 January 2009

Well, it was lovely to be back on my show this morning. I've been off everywhere over the last few weeks covering everything! Nice to be home.

At 4.20 this morning, my studio melted down. And by this I mean EVERYTHING broke. There wasn't one button that worked and my microphone was stuck on permanently and couldn't be shut off. Awful. There was nothing I could do, so I just sat there and chatted and laughed. Ever the professional. Eventually, I moved studios and got back on air but the engineers were called out and had to rip out most of the equipment because of a major malfunction somewhere very important. We're not talking a little glitch here, we're talking properly broken.

What made me laugh was the BBC engineer's report that he filed this morning stating that there had been a major malfunction whilst on air and it did affect the show however (and I quote from the report) "it did make for very entertaining radio".

What more can I ask for?! I think maybe people listen to my show now to find out what I break next. It's kind of my unique selling point.

Shoulda put a ring on it...

I know what you're thinking, it's really cold at the moment and you need something to keep you warm which also leaves your hands free to pick stuff up and use everyday items...

Well, these clever people have come up with this:

This looked like great fun but I decided to not bother spending any money on something which is basically a dressing gown worn backwards. Here's what I did instead:

The Script and The Cup Of Water Game

On this afternoon's show The Script came in for a chat and brought their guitar with them for a sing a long.

While they were waiting in the Live Lounge, I tried out the now world-famous Cup Of Water On The Head Game on Danny, the lead singer.

Gloomy day but not on the big show...

Well, well, well. What a great load of emails I was faced with when I came into work today. Firstly, thank you to Leigh in South Wales for sending me this:

welcome_along_truck.jpg

Proving that the greeting 'Welcome Along' really is taking over the world.

Also, there is some great news reagarding the Red Light Company record of the week jingle. In case you don't know, whenever I pick a record of the week, (a song that I champion and play once a day for a week) I politely ask the artist to record a jingle for me for the show. I found out this week that Red Light Company (their single 'Arts and Crafts' is my record of the week) are in fact spread out across the world. Some of them on holiday and some of them are at home for the holidays. The incredible thing is that they have very kindly done this video for me from all corners of the globe - kind of. It is very impressive and it makes me love this band even more.

Have a peek:

More best bits of the radio, Westwood's TV Picks, an amazing development for the Flash Flash song and a load more guff from 4 this afternoon!

The World's Most Stupid Game - vol. 2

Greg James|15:30 UK time, Wednesday, 7 January 2009

Here we go again. I thought I'd give the world's most stupid game another go. Today's culprit was my boss, Piers.

Have a go at this ridiculous game yourself in the office or at home even. Make sure you're using a plastic or paper cup, we don't want any casualties.

David really is at White Hart Lane!

I asked David Garrido from Newsbeat's Sportbeat department if he was actually at White Hart Lane (like he said he was).

It turns out, he is. Here's the proof:

So, it's the first proper day back at work then and I know many of you will have started back to school/college/Uni etc. It doesn't feel any different for me really because I've been here every day anyway! Hope you had a nice Christmas break though and ready to go for 2009.

I've had a haircut to celebrate the new year and I'm all prepared for Scott's show. I'm on again from 4!

I'm sticking to my New Year's resolution...

On air the other day, I said I wouldn't bother with any healthy or sensible resolutions this year. Just to let you know that after I got home from the request show, I ordered a pizza and I'm sitting around eating sweets watching my new favourite show 'Arrested Development'. It's so good. My first night off in ages. Beautiful.

P.S. Big well done to Matt Smith who has become the new Dr. Who this evening. I don't watch Dr. Who but the only reason I'm interested in this is because Matt did the same course as me at UEA when I was there. He was in the 3rd year when I started. Amazing news.

You can take over Radio 1. Now!
