The answer? Jo Whiley!

While she was out round at the Kaiser Chief's House in Leeds doing the Live Lounge tour, Team Early Breakfast got creative, & took the opportunity to pop round to Jo's house, and make her a surprise present she'd never forget!

Biggins!

Christopher Biggins was signing copies of his new autobiography yesterday at a central London bookshop. I thought it would be a good idea to pop along and take a microphone with me. We improvised a scene from famous pantomime, "Jack and the Bean Stalk". Have a listen again, it's well worth it!

Here I am with Biggins looking worryingly camp...

Well, well, well...What a fun night it was on Saturday. I was welcomed along to Oxford Brookes University to DJ at their 'Fresher's Finale' which was an awesome night! I was supported by an Amy Winehouse tribute act called "Maybe Winehouse" (clever, eh?) and just played out a few hits, danced around like an idiot and met a load of lovely people.

It was a hot venue, and I was sweating quite a lot (such a stud) so I used a towel to mop my brow. To my horror, a girl in the front row requested to have my towel as a souvenir of my visit. It was perhaps a low point of my career, but she seemed to be very happy with her wet freebie.

I also set the fire alarms off due to using the smoke machines too much, and there was the first crowd surfer I've had whilst doing a gig. He was quite, urrm, merry, shall we say... He was rushed off in an ambulance.

Anyway, I did that old trick of taking a photo of the crowd:

What's with this? I can't stop blogging this weekend...However, just seen this incredible video and thought you should all take a look. It's one of the best I've seen in a long while. What do you reckon?

P.S. Many thanks to Sam from Unofficial Mills for posting this on the site, which meant I could then pretend to have my finger on the pulse and pretend I found it. I wouldn't do a thing like that!

A reflective piece...

Hi there you crafty bloggers, hope all is well with you. I'm just about to go out and indeed about on this Friday evening, but I feel I must do a quick post on here.

This blog is a funny old thing really - I started it in July and it's become really popular over the last couple of months which I feel I should thank you for. It's great that you take the time to interact with me and Radio 1 by leaving comments on here, emailing, texting etc. So I just wanted to put my 'worthy' voice on (the one I use on the Surgery when talking about crabs) and just say thanks.

I get many emails from people saying they read the blog regularly but they don't necessarily leave comments so 'hello to you' lot. I really enjoy writing this guff on here and I'm glad you enjoy reading it. I will continue the insights into Radio 1 and my life...(including any updates on my heart tests - by the way, I still think that was too much information!)

It's been another busy week this week - plenty of blog activity for you to sink your teeth into, just have a flick back.

This weekend I'm kind of working again; doing a gig at Oxford Brookes University tomorrow night which will be a lot of fun (not really working!), playing a quick round of golf maybe, seeing a few old mates and fingers crossed for a nice roast dinner on Sunday night with the family. I hope the latter happens because lately I've been eating really badly. Mainly toast actually. With Marmite though.

Want to do a bit of celebrating as well this weekend - you may know that I secured a new flat on Thursday which I'm rather pleased about and I got some other bits of good news too. Any excuse for a knees up really. Look out Oxford.

I think that's all for now, have a lovely weekend whatever you're up to, thanks again for bothering to read this stuff, it's always lovely to hear from you on email or on the comments when there's been something you've particularly enjoyed, so...yeah, keep that up! (slightly patronising there?) You know what I mean though.

See ya.

P.S. Free-For-All Friday was particularly funny this morning. Have a listen back at about 4:35am...

P.P.S. Brap.

P.P.P.S. Welcome along to the weekend...

This was taken moments ago from the studio webcam when Pamela Anderson popped it to see Scott. Poor old Chappers didn't know where to look. Well, actually, he did.

Don't blame him though.

This morning, we heard from Cat who resides in LA and chats to us regularly about the stuff going on in her neck of the woods. She doesn't hold back, and is a big hit with my more pervy listeners. Here's a picture of her, as requested.

I kept seeing this guy who looks a bit like a dog all last week at various things. Firstly at the Katy Perry gig, then at the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards and Producer Neil saw him outside Radio 1 yesterday waiting to see the Pussycat Dolls. Someone has just texted in saying that they spotted him too and thought it was Charlie from Busted.

Here he is...

Oi, has Scott been playing clips of me being a mess me from my show this morning? After doing the Surgery last night, I had 2 hours sleep. The Early Breakfast madness is setting in I fear.

I ask you, faithful blog readers and fans of the show to fill me in and let me know if this is true as I have received the following texts from people:

"Go to bed", said one person

"haha you've finally gone mad", said another

"u idiot", said one of my closest friends.

This can only be the work of Mills. Please let me know.

The Saturdays, Spongebob and me...

Greg James|10:33 UK time, Sunday, 14 September 2008

Ahh, welcome along to midway through the weekend...

Yesterday, I popped along to the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards and before you ask, no, it wasn't a messy evening because it started at 3pm. I decided to take a microphone and shout at people when they walked down the red carpet. Hear the results tomorrow morning from 4 on the big show.

In the meantime, here are a selection of photos from my phone.

The Saturdays: (my captive audience)

Spongebob Squarepants: (div looking into the wrong camera there)

This is John Cena from WWE:

George Sampson: (don't light a match near him, he'd go up like Guy Fawkes what with all that Nylon)

What a stupid job I have. Fun afternoon though and the Saturdays were particularly lovely and even sang to me, much to the dismay of the paps who were surrounding us...

P.S. Doing The Surgery tonight on the wireless so have a listen eh? The great news for me is that it's 'open surgery' tonight which means - ANYTHING GOES! Hear me trying not to laugh tonight from 10.

When I started this blog, I wanted it to contain little insights into my daily life but I'm not sure if this is too much information... However I wanted to share with you what a total plank I feel today.

I had to have some tests on my heart because the doctor thinks there might be something slightly wrong with me. They have decided to monitor my heart rate over a 24 hour period. The result is that I have to wear these electrode things and a pouch with a gadget thing in:

oapknob.jpg

I have to walk around with a big bulge and a load of wires poking out of my jumper like an eighty year old. I think it's probably best I stay inside and watch Midsomer Murders this afternoon to avoid being seen with wires hanging out.

It reminded me of a brilliant scene in 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' where Larry David has to wear one of these things for a day and as he is about to be attacked by someone, he rips all the wires off and pretends to have a heart attack! It's amazing, and perhaps something I may try later. I would love to post the video on here but it's got A LOT of bad language in it so I'm not really allowed. If you fancy having a look though, search for "Larry calls Schwimmers dad" on You Tube.

So, I'll be wearing my wires tonight as I go and see Kings of Leon at Maida Vale and if Max from 1Xtra is on tomorrow, you'll know it's because I'm having a pig heart put in.

Katy Perry's first ever UK gig...

katyperry.jpg

I was fortunate enough to be welcomed along to see this last night in a sweaty Central London pub. She was excellent live, and quite 'easy on the eye' (as an old perv would say).

Also, Producer Neil got punched in the face by an over-enthusiastic fan as he 'pumped the air" in front of him during "I Kissed A Girl". Favourite bit of the night for me that, not Neil - he was swearing at him.

Anyway, here's a sneaky 21 second video of the gig last night. It would have been longer but the battery on my phone ran out.

Have a look and listen here to Katy Perry with Scott from yesterday...She was very funny, and of course, Chappers was being inappropriate.

Noel gets the push...

Hi there early morning radio fans...

Mentioned that at an Oasis gig in Canada the other night, some berk ran on to the stage and shoved Noel Gallagher in the back and he fell over. Come on mate, pick your fights. Don't go for one of the hardest bands in the world. Pick a softer one - Scouting For Girls for example.

Of course, someone filmed it:

Oh my god. I didn't think I'd make it - but I'm back. Am I being over dramatic because I'm tired and sooooooooo annoyed with a certain airline? You bet I am. More on this from 4am on Monday morning, when I'm back on the wireless.

P.S. Thank you very much to Max for covering the show and doing blog bits.

P.P.S. I had a brilliant holiday, thanks for asking.

Happy 26th Birthday to Sway who joined me live in the studio this morning...All week I have been playing his new single 'Saturday Night Hustle' as my Record Of The Week.

We had cake and lots of jokes. He told me about being on the new album from the Kaiser Chiefs and how hard it is to get a call back from Mark Ronson!!

swayDSCF4416.JPG

Oh yeah Chappers was supposed to perform a live version of the song with Sway in the studio but he didn't turn up!!!

Mad with Chappers....Mad with Sway too because he left cake for Chappers even after he stood us up!

Greg is back on Monday thanks for making me feel so welcome and keeping me company in the early mornings. Miss you!

On Wednesday I went out and spent the afternoon painting...well okay I watched the Guillemots join dozens of young volunteers in painting a residential area in a deprived area of East London as part of RockCorps' music-led volunteer programme...

Basically you do some Volunteer work and in exchange you get tickets to see the band alongside the likes of Busta Rhymes as the Royal Albert Hall at a massive concert!!

The Guillemots were up for a laugh and kept fighing amongst each other, Fyfe was just a joker and very talllllllllllllll!!!

Recently I got to hang out with a top fashion stylist - I took along an old, boring worn out large pink T-shirt - the kind you'd sleep in - and set her the challenge to bling it up, make it sexy and turn it into something I'd wear to a club.

Here's how it started off:

And here's the picture of the finished article - pretty impressive!

Party With Mills & Westwood!!!

Max|03:33 UK time, Wednesday, 3 September 2008

So last night we headed down to some swanky club in London to celebrate a new range of Condoms!!!

We were told the likes of Justin Lee Collins and Sarah Harding would be attending with various other B -list celebs. Well no sign of them but our very own Radio 1 family were in the house. Shout-out to Scott Mills who was on hosting duties, he was wearing the neatest little suit but at one point was walking around with a suspect brown man bag, thankfully I had words and he got rid before he started getting mobbed by some crazy ladies from 'Love It' mag!!.

Westwoodmoving.jpgscot1WWbackground.jpg

The Big Dawg Tim Westwood was entertaining as always with an entourage of girls who decided to dress down for the occasion, Westwood spent most of the night glued to a glass statue of well....a naked lady. Bless guess he doesn't get out much!!

X Factor has gone madddddddddddddddd!!!!!
