Things aren't going so well for Abi Titmuss. Only three people turned up to her book signing.

The bloke with the bag looped over his arm is my favourite.

Hi there...Popped along to Windsor races last night for Ladies' Day and the going was certainly very good. Excellent in fact.

I was asked to judge the "best dressed lady" competition which, of course, I'd be a fool to turn down. It was a tough call and I was advised to look at the effort people had gone to and not just pick the hottest.

I was also allowed to have a wander around on the track, so I did:

nobonthetrack.jpg

Had a brilliant evening, saw Claire Sweeney, got the boat there and back and haven't had as much sleep as I should have done. Oh, and unlike last time I went to the races, I didn't get asked for ID to place a bet. However, someone I met asked if I was 17. Thanks for that.

Welcome along to the weekend...

Hello there, I have cheered up properly now after Wednesday's mess! Thank you for telling me about your 'bad days' - they helped me get over mine!

I tell you what really helped though...Getting a shed load of new listeners for my little show! very good news. So, if you're one of those, thank you so much - it really means a lot. Also, if you're an old regular, thanks for still being there.

As for the Facebook fan page, there was an excellent bulge in new people on there this week too, although on reflection, I'd rather have real listeners than an ego boost on there...Both would be ideal though!

Have a lovely weekend whatever you're getting up to, enjoy the sun if it's there to enjoy and in the meantime, here's a little blog that I think you'll enjoy...

It's called Fail Blog and it's all about stuff in the world that doesn't work the way it should. It's pretty funny...

P.S. Can't believe Mallorca was a week ago! I kind of miss it! Still loads of guff to see from it here if you haven't already. Plus, have a peak at what Scott got up to in Barry...

P.P.S. It's so hot outside. The Speedos are coming out!

I'm in the worst mood ever...

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So grumpy.

Properly tired this week and I had to go and record the voiceover bits for DAVE TV this morning. Got there after a half hour journey to find that the scripts hadn't been written. Brilliant. Thanks everyone! Waste of time.

To add to this, I've just arrived home to find that the new blind the blundering workmen fitted in my flat doesn't cover my window properly so am trying to get to sleep with the sun in my face. Also, it's one of those wooden blinds which is a huge problem because the window is in the roof and it hangs down and looks like it's going to fall off!

He's left a load of wood chippings in my bed too.

AND to top it all off, I'm being beaten by a bloody gnome in terms of Facebook fan popularity. Click here to join my fan page. I'm tired, desperate and very grumpy. ARRRRRGHH!!! I'm off to bed.

Wake me up when I've got 1000 fans.

If you want to rant about anything, get it of your chest in the comments below. Go on, it'll make you feel better!

This is a video of Vanessa Feltz dancing in BCM square in Mallorca on Friday afternoon. She was there because her other half (Ben from Phats and Small) was ripping it up in front of the massive crowd.

Not content with just watching her moves. I decided to film it. Obviously.

An incredible weekend...

What an amazing weekend it was in Mallorca. The crowds were awesome, so up for it all and Judge Jules and Dave Pearce in BCM on Friday night were something else.

Thank you to everyone who was so nice to us all when we were there, all the people that I met in the club in the evening were very friendly and we all danced the night away as the sun came up.

It was my first trip to Magaluf and it's certainly not going to be my last!

P.S. I have an AMAZING video of Vanessa Feltz from the weekend. I'll upload it tomorrow. There's also a load more photos that I'll get hold of when I get back into work tomorrow too!

Irish Dancing and karaoke

Blog comments are currently unavailable. Find out more.

Greg James|14:53 UK time, Friday, 18 July 2008

Good afternoon!

Having a lovely time soaking up the rays here in Mallorca. Went out last night in Magaluf and after a some food, we decided to do a bit of karaoke. At the time, it was a great idea. On reflection and now seeing the video evidence (below), I'm not so sure it was one of my better ones. Impressed? Producer Neil's Irish jigging is amazing.

Anyway, better go, nearly time to do the big show with me and Jules...

More later...

We're in Mallorca!

Welcome along to London Stansted. The two divs (me and Neil) have arrived and the check in staff put a lovely message to welcome us. I would put it up on here but I'm on one of those £10 a minute computers and you can't access photos. Brill!

If I find the internet somewhere else, I'll try again.

Bye for now - I'm off to board Venga Airways!

I spent yesterday afternoon in Fearne's DVD Clinic chatting about some of my favourite films which was rather good fun. Turns out I have a pretty immature taste in films. Oh well.

Have a listen to it here.

P.S. Not sure why we're holding those items.

Last week, I chose The Automatic's new single 'Steve Mcqueen' as my Record of the Week and they recorded a little jingle for me. It's excellent, and very catchy.

This is a video of them recording it - you can see how the magic was created!

The only thing left to do is laugh...

Greg James|11:08 UK time, Tuesday, 15 July 2008

Came back home straight after the show today because I needed a bit of kip before going back in to do the DVD Clinic with Fearne at 14:30.

Managed to get off to sleep quite quickly, then all of a sudden, the blind pings up which, when you're asleep, is the loudest noise ever. So, light came streaming in and I was awoken. Got off to sleep again, and the people opposite my flat decided they would get their tree chopped down. Again, one of the loudest noises ever. The unrelenting buzz of the chainsaw unterrupting my beauty sleep once again. (It's still going on)

I eventually got back to sleep again. That was until a man walked into my bedroom, shouted "Oh S**t" and slammed the door again. By this time, I didn't know what was going on. I was asleep, fully naked with the cover off due to it being a bit hot. The man turned out to be a workman that the estate agents had sent (after many rude phonecalls from me) to fix the hot tap in my bathroom and fit a new blind. Suppose it serves me right.

I'm sitting here now watching them both blundering about dropping things and swearing. However, instead of giving in to the tiredness and annoyance, I'm just chuckling to myself...because he saw my arse.

workmanstuff1.jpg

This is the workman's stuff in my flat. Note that the sink only has one tap. It takes me ages to get round the things.

Back to the land of the dead...

Greg James|20:03 UK time, Monday, 14 July 2008

Well, perhaps that's an over exaggeration, but it got your attention didn't it!

It was a little bit of a shock to the system to hear the alarm buzz in my ears at 2:30am this morning but it was so good to be back home doing my own show. It sounds stupid but I really did miss it all. It was a great fun couple of week's doing Scott's show but there is something quite special about early mornings.

I can also get away with alot more naughty bits at that time which is always a bonus. Predictable radio does my head in. What's the point in listening if you know what's going to happen?!

I got a call from one of the producers of Fearne's show today asking me to be in the DVD clinic tomorrow at half 2. Thing is that I don't really like films that much. I mean, I do like films but there are SO many big films that I haven't seen. I always have those awkward conversations with people. You know the ones... "oh, have you seen "No Country for Old Men?" "No." Conversation killer.

Here's a list of 5 of the world's most famous and critically acclaimed films. Every single one has NOT been seen by me:

1) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

2) Pulp Fiction

3) Lord of the Rings

4) Silence of the Lambs

5) Citizen Kane

Films are just something I really have to be in the mood for. When I watch them, I think, "oh, I love films, I need to watch more of them" but then I get over that and put 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' back on.

Here's a question: What massive blockbuster films that all your mates have seen that you haven't? Don't be shy, we're all friends here. Post the names of the films in the comments below.

That's all for now!

Oi, if you're going out this weekend...

...Why don't you try this game:

I talked about it a couple of weeks ago whilst doing Scott's show. It's the game you play with a digital camera or camera phone or something and you pretend you're taking a photo of them but actually you're filming them. It sounds simple, but it can be VERY funny.

This one is brilliant - one of the best I've seen:

Try your own out and just email me the You Tube link...at greg.james@bbc.co.uk

My boss laughed at me for buying these pants. The only reason I bought them was because I've run out of clean ones, I can't bothered to wash any and these were "buy one get one half price".

I don't see anything wrong with them! Do you?

Hi there, welcome along...

I went to London Zoo today to record the next installment of my T In The Park promotion. I met a bee keeper called Craig and asked him all about the huge Kinross-shire festival. Can you guess where this is going???

Yep. "Bee In The Park!"

Here's the video of me being whacky at the zoo - more photos below:

I said on air last week that I might come back after a night out and write some rubbish on here...

Been out for a few iced ciders, sat in a beer garden with a few mates from my old school in Bishop's Stortford (my home town) - rock on. Popped to the 'Kebabary' afterwards for some chips and got asked to leave for being too rowdy. It wasn't me, some stupid girl was throwing onion rings everywhere.

Also, I put loads of money in the video jukebox at the pub and it took about 2 hours for my songs to come on. Here's the tracklisting though: (its a bit like the Wonder Years this, except you weren't there!

I put £2 in and this is what was eventually played:

Ida Maria - I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked

We Are Scientists - After Hours

Pendulum - Propane Nightmares

Scouting For Girls - Heartbeat

Panic At The Disco - Nine In The Afternoon

Futureheads - Beginning Of The Twist

Kings Of Leon - Charmer

Probably should go to bed now. I'm a mess.

Cheers!

Good, good, good. Friday's just zoom by on Scott's show...Wonder Years at 5 and then all the big dance tunes on the Floorfillers (tracklisting for that here) from 6...

So, yesterday was Jo Whiley's birthday and I popped into see her about half 12 to give her a present. I got her a badly wrapped paddling pool, which she can use with her family this summer in her garden or, as she suggested, use as a birthing pool.

Have a lovely weekend, looking forward to doing another week of Scott's show from Monday.

Here's the Wonder Years tracklisting: (all hand picked, some of my absolute faves - plus B*Witched. A song from every year starting from 1994...

94 - Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Give It Away

95 - N - Trance - Set You Free

96 - Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger

97 - White Town - Your Woman

98 - B*witched - C'est La Vie - check out the video HERE!

99 - Basement Jaxx - Red Alert

00 - Sweet Female Attitude - Flowerz

01 - Sum 41 - Fat Lip

02 - NERD - Lapdance

03 - The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love

04 - Kanye West - All Falls Down

P.S. A little secret about B*Witched that I didn't want to admit to on air....I actually bought the single. Wow. Crazy times.

This week has gone quickly-ish

It's already Friday tomorrow! I've picked some brilliant Wonder Years for tomorrow from 5 and I'll also bring in my box of disco hits for the Floorfillers from 6!

As well as this, it's Jo Whiley's birthday tomorrow and I'm going to be giving her a lovely present tomorrow just before the end of her show...

That's all for now. More tomorrow, I'm shattered - busy old week!

So, did the show, then popped out for a quick drink with Producer Neil, assistant Producer Matt and Glenn who produces Annie Mac at weekends. Don't worry, I don't address them as "Producer blah blah" in conversation, it's just so you all know who these people are!

Anyway! After a nice iced cider (incredible hot evening drink!), I trotted home with my girlfriend Clare who is staying for a few days after just graduating and making the transition into the big wide world!

Got home to find TWO bloody Congestion charge fines in the letterbox. £120! Horrendous surprise. Serves me right I suppose but I'm new to London and it's not clear where you are allowed to drive and where you aren't! There are no signs! In case you didn't know, the congestion charge was (ex) Mayor Ken's idea to get rid of cars in central London. Suckers have to pay £8 a day and if you don't, £60 fine. Arse.

Put me in a bad mood, but I'm over it now. Kind of. So, Murray lost the tennis too - Nadal is just too good. Did buy a new tennis racquet today though (70% off - amazing!).

Just having a bit of pasta whilst watching the highlights of the tennis on the red button - the BBC is just incredible isn't it! But then again, I would say that. You do get alot for the licence fee I think. Including this blog. We spoil you!

Right, logging off now, more tomorrow.

P.S. Producer Neil and I made up after our argument earlier you'll be pleased to hear.

P.P.S. If you haven't seen my "Reasons I hate London" post from a few days ago, I've added more. Please feel free to add your own!

Argument

I've just had an argument with Producer Neil about today's show. There's lots to prepare before 4 o'clock and I want him to do it all today because I'd rather sit and eat crisps. Is this unreasonable?

By the way, Nikolz, the track you're after is.....Portishead - Roads. Have a good evening!

Day two on The Big Drive Home

Blog comments are currently unavailable. Find out more.

Greg James|21:56 UK time, Tuesday, 1 July 2008

Don't worry, I'm not going to label every day "The Big Drive Home - Day ?? etc etc"...that might get tedious.

Anyways, another busy show today - got some snazzy "Summer jingles" made as a tribute to all the local radio stations that have the cheesey "music sounds better in the sunshine" jingles on before playing songs like "Don Henley - Boys of Summer" or something. You can listen again to the show here. I played the jingles out at about 5:15pm then again with Zane at that very start of his show at 7. Enjoy!

Also, did another round of the feature with no name but its basically where I give you 30 seconds for you to text in your favourite song in the world. After that 30 seconds, I freeze the text screen and play the three songs that appear at the top of the list. Today, the songs were:

Nickelback - Rockstar

Jamie T - Sheila

Gerry and The Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone. See, it really could be ANYTHING. Another round of that tomorrow at 6:15pm.

That's all for now I think. If I've forgotten anything, I'll pop back later.

Pretending to take a photo...(when actually its a video!)

Greg James|15:26 UK time, Tuesday, 1 July 2008

I thought it would be fun to invite people to try out this game you can play with your standard digital camera (as long as you can film on it too).

All you do is ask someone if you can take a photo of them. Then, if they say yes, actually start filming them instead. I did one, which you can see here.

I asked people to send in their attempts too. Here's a couple:

This one was sent in Paul - its of his Mum and Nan. (always easier to fool the oldies)

 This one is from "Rich-Dizzle"!

If you want to do one, email me the link - greg.james@bbc.co.uk
