Vote EastEnders for Best Soap Moment of the Year 2012

TV Choice are running an online poll, inviting their readers to vote for the Best Soap Moment of the Year... and, of course, EastEnders is in the running!

Heather Trott's murder and Ian Beale's breakdown have both been nominated as the two stand-out storylines of the year. If you agree, then you had better get voting!

Heather was all set for a happy ending after planning to elope with soulmate Andrew... until Ben Mitchell paid her a visit and a heated exchange resulted in her untimely demise.

Eternally unlucky in love Ian knew that his relationship with Mandy was going nowhere... but that didn't stop him getting himself further and further into debt to try and buy her love. His behaviour grew increasingly more erratic after Ben revealed to him the truth about Heather's murder, and when Mandy left, it was all too much for Ian.

Voting is open now, and you have until midnight on Friday 23rd November to vote.

EastEnders wins two MVSAs

EastEnders has won Best Soap with a Black Cast or Lead in the Birmingham Black International Film Festival's Music, Video, and Screen Awards (MVSAs). This was chosen by the public. Thank you to everyone who voted!

Congratulations also go to Chucky Venn who won Best Actor.

He was in a hotly-contested category which included Ashley Walters for Inside Men, David Harewood for Homeland, and John Boyega for My Murder.

EastEnders up for four MVSAs

EastEnders has been nominated in four categories at this year's Birmingham Black International Film Festival's Music, Video, and Screen Awards (MVSAs).

Three of the awards can be voted for by the public, so please show your support by heading on over to the Black International Film Festival website, clicking on MVSA Awards tab and then the Nominations tab to register your votes:

Best Soap with a Black Cast or Lead - EastEnders, against other nominees: Casualty, Holby City, and Doctors
Best Newcomer - Ricky Norwood, against Malachi Kirby for My Murder, Chizzy Akudolu for Holby, and Kano Robinson for Top Boy
Best TV Comedy Performance - Tameka Empson, against Ozy Ikhile for Twenty Twelve, Ellen Thomas for Rev, and Jimmy Akingbola for Rev

Additionally, Chucky Venn is up for Best UK Actor, against Ashley Walters for Inside Men, David Harewood for Homeland, and John Boyega for My Murder. However, this category is voted for by a jury, rather than the public.

Here's our second instalment from the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards.

Meanwhile, we caught up with Danielle Harold (Lola), new boy Gary Lucy (Danny) and Cheryl Fergison (Heather), who is still loving EastEnders - it's true, we really grilled her!

We also had a lovely chat with Jamie Borthwick (Jay), Jasmyn Banks (Alice), Rachel Bright (Poppy), and Chucky Venn (Ray), who were thrilled to be there to recieve the Best Soap award.

EastEnders has scooped a massive seven Inside Soap Awards, including the coveted Best Soap award!

We were on the red carpet (it was actually pink) and managed to grab some of our lucky winners for a chat.

Aside from the Best Soap crown, our EastEnders winners were:

Sexiest Male: David Witts (aka Joey Branning)

Funniest Female: Tameka Empson (aka Kim Fox)

Don't forget that 'The B&B' , Tameka's self-penned reality documentary about Kim's adventures, airs online in October...

Best Actress: Gillian Wright (aka Jean Slater)

Best Newcomer: Hetti Bywater (aka Lucy Beale)

Funniest Male: Ricky Norwood (aka Fatboy)

Best Bitch: Charlie Brooks (aka Janine Butcher)

EastEnders nominated for Radio 1 Teen Award!

Great news! EastEnders has been nominated in the Best British TV Show category at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards!

EastEnders nominated for Mind Media Award

EastEnders has been nominated in the soap category at the Mind Media awards. The Mind Media awards celebrate the best portrayals of mental health in the media, and we're nominated for Ian's breakdown storyline.

EastEnders worked closely with Time to Change, an anti-stigma campaign, to make sure Ian's situation was portrayed accurately. Time to Change is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness. We also worked closely with Time to Change supporter Kevin Shepherd, who advised the writers from first hand experience of mental illness.

Last years winners included Casualty and BBC Radio 5 Live's Victoria Derbyshire show. This year's winners will be announced on the 19th of November.

Horray! EastEnders has won seven awards at the BSA's, included the much coveted title of Best British Soap (for the 5th year in a row!).
