    &lt;p&gt;Today, Director, BBC News and Current Affairs, James Harding, talked to
BBC staff about future plans for BBC News. The speech was given at New
Broadcasting House in central London and also broadcast live to BBC staff across the UK via the BBC's internal TV service, the 'Ringmain'.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He explained
why he thinks BBC News is 'seriously good', announced a number a plans for the news division 'broadening
the range of stories and voices on the BBC', making a service that is, 'flexible,
effective and faster on its feet.'  Plans announced also included the appointment of a daily news agenda editor  on-air editors dedicated to helath and education . &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;He went on
to answer questions from staff.&lt;/p&gt;

    <title type="html"><![CDATA[Where Next? Director-General unveils future plans for BBC]]></title>

    &lt;p&gt;Earlier on today, Director-General Tony Hall shared his
vision for a future BBC in a speech given to staff and journalists in the BBC
Radio Theatre in London. The speech was broadcast live on the BBC's staff TV
network - the 'Ringmain'. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;During the speech Tony made a number of announcements which
formed part of his future strategy for the organisation including the launch of
&lt;a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/dg-bbcone-plus1.html"&gt;BBC One + 1&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/dg-playlister.html"&gt;Playlister&lt;/a&gt;, the &lt;a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/dg-iplayer.html"&gt;next generation iPlayer&lt;/a&gt; and a new way for
audiences to &lt;a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/bbc-radio-open-minds.html"&gt;access speech content from across the BBC's radio networks&lt;/a&gt;. There
were additional announcements made about&lt;a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/radio-1-channel.html"&gt; Radio 1 on iPlayer&lt;/a&gt; and a new&lt;a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/dg-arts-programming.html"&gt;
investment in arts TV programming&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;
