    • Subject pronouns in French

      Subject pronouns take the place of a noun as the subject of a sentence. In French, there are nine subject pronouns and two ways of saying 'you'.

    • Direct object pronouns in French

      Direct object pronouns replace the noun that is the object of a sentence. French direct object pronouns include 'me', 'te', 'le/la' and 'vous'.

    • Emphatic pronouns in French

      Emphatic pronouns include 'moi' (me) and 'toi' (you) and are often used after certain prepositions in French. They only apply to people, not things.

    • Indirect object pronouns in French

      Indirect object pronouns replace nouns, to avoid repeating the noun two sentences in a row. An indirect object pronoun is used in the place of the indirect object of a verb.

    • Reflexive pronouns in French

      French reflexive pronouns include 'me', 'te' and 'se'. The position of reflexive pronouns depends on the tense of the sentence and whether it is a positive or negative sentence.

    • Higher Tier - Adverbial pronouns 'y' and 'en' in French

      Adverbial pronouns include words for 'it', 'them' and 'there'. 'Y' and 'en' are both adverbial pronouns in French.

    • Relative pronouns in French

      Relative pronouns, like 'qui' and 'que', introduce relative clauses. A relative clause is a part of a sentence that cannot exist by itself.
