A chocolate brownie and 4 children

There are four children, so they need to cut it into four pieces.

If they cut the brownie like this, they will each get an equal piece, or a quarter.

4 hands each reaching for a piece of the brownie

If the brownie has been cut equally then each of the pieces will be the same size.

Sometimes there are different ways you can split a shape into quarters.
