Vibrations and waves

Part ofScience

  • Vibrations and waves

    • Sound waves, amplitude and frequency

The amplitude and frequency of a sound wave can be examined using a microphone and oscilloscope. By measuring the speed of sound we can apply the wave equation to determine its wavelength.

    • Non-visible parts of the electromagnetic spectrum

Electromagnetic waves form a spectrum of different wavelengths. This spectrum includes visible light, X-rays and radio waves. Electromagnetic radiation can be useful as well as hazardous.
