When we mix two primary colours together, we create a new colour. This is known as a secondary colour. Learn all about mixing colours with Cal and Bunny.
Cal: Painting with primary colours: red, blue and yelloooooow! OK what next? Ooooo a green tree! Wait, I’ve got no green paint. Hey Bunny?
Bunny: Hey Cal. What's up?
Cal: I want to paint that tree in my picture but I’ve got no green paint.
Bunny: Hmmm… No green? Have you tried using slime? I’ve got some if you need some.
Cal: Eww! No thanks Bunny! Hopefully we can think of another way.
Bunny: Hmmm… You could try mixing two colours together!
Cal: Yeah I could give that a go. Let’s see what happens. Let’s add… red and blue! They changed colour! Now I’ve got purple!
Bunny: The best colour.
Cal: Yeah I’m going to add you to the picture. There. That’s you by the way.
Bunny: Love it.
Cal: OK. Let’s try making some more new colours.
Bunny: Try blue and yellow.
Cal: Green! Nice one Bunny.
Bunny: Knew it all along Cal. Stick with me kid and you’ll go far.
Cal: That just leaves red and yellow to mix.
Bunny: An orange orange!
Cal: I wonder what other colours we can make?
Bunny: Let’s get mixing!
Mixing colours
The primary colours are blue, yellow and red. When you mix these colours you can make new colours.
When you mix red and yellow together, you make orange.
When you mix red and blue together, you make purple.
And when you mix blue and yellow together, you make green.
