Radio 1 Christmas Presenters 2026

BBC Radio 1 opened a two-week window for presenters to send their demo to the station, with the opportunity to host shows on Radio 1 this Christmas!

You will need clear evidence of some radio broadcasting experience and technical ability, a passion for music and youth culture, and a lively and entertaining personality.
You could be presenting shows on Radio 1, Radio 1 Dance or Radio 1 Anthems, including some of our night time genre-led music shows. We are looking for a range of personalities and a mixture of entertainment and personality presenters alongside music experts.
Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, says: "The Christmas Takeover has become a vital part of how we discover and champion the next generation of broadcasting talent. Since 2019, this initiative has helped shape the sound of Radio 1, with many of our alumni going on to secure presenting roles across the network, and I'm incredibly proud of what it has become."
Regular Radio 1 DJs who have come through the Christmas Takeover include Vicky Hawkesworth, Nat O'Leary, Sian Eleri, Sam and Danni, Maia Beth, Alyx Holcombe, Charlie Tee, Sarah Story, Jodie Bryant, Martha, Oré Olukoga, James Cusack and Jess Iszatt.
