On Monday 29th June, consumer expert Louise Minchin was in the Morning Live studio talking about bank branch closures.
Almost 7,000 bank and building society branches have disappeared from the UK high streets since 2015, a rate of over 50 each month.
In 2026, 231 branches have closed or are scheduled to close, with another 14 set to join the list next year.
The Financial Conduct Authority require banks and building societies to fill any significant gaps in cash access.
