Cabinet Office Minister Liam Byrne has said the PM's ex-political press officer did the "honourable thing" by resigning over an email exchange with Derek Draper.
Mr McBride quit after the messages, in which he was said to make obscene claims about members of the Conservative Party, were picked up by a Westminster blog.
