Supermarket chain Kwik Save is to reopen two stores it closed in South and West Yorkshire last month. Former workers at the stores in Doncaster and the Harehills area of Leeds have been asked to volunteer to take their old jobs back.
It follows talks between Kwik Save and its financial backers about its future.
The stores are expected to reopen on Wednesday. On 30 May the firm closed 79 stores, including 10 in Yorkshire, after announcing huge cutbacks.
In total, 20 of the closed stores are to reopen.
A spokesman for the shop workers' union Usdaw said: "We have written to the company asking some tough questions about the long-term job security for our members.
"We have also raised questions about the supply chain to make sure the stores which are reopening are properly stocked."
It said it would support any members who decided to return to work but would also back those who decided to take up their redundancy payment, which is due to be paid on 21 June.
