White-Clawed Crayfish
Fears crayfish, ducks and moorhen have been killed
An estimated 100 birds and fish have died after a stream near Haverhill was polluted with diesel.

Red diesel was first spotted on Thursday in the tributary of the River Stour at Barnardiston.

A spokesperson for the Jaybeth Animal Sanctuary, which is next to the stream, estimated that more than 100 of the stream's wildlife had died.

Officers from the Environment Agency are trying to clean up the diesel and find out where it is coming from.

Moorhen, ducks and crayfish are among the casualties, the sanctuary said.

No animals in the sanctuary, which is a haven for dogs and cats, have been killed.
