Residents took to the streets to protest about the closures last year |
Residents have joined forces to step up their campaign to get a public toilet reopened in a North Yorkshire village. The newly-formed Scalby Convenience Watch Committee said people were paying the price for the council's attempts to save money on spending a penny.
Scarborough Council has shut several toilets in a bid to save up to 86,000.
But protesters said they were well used by visitors and elderly residents and hoped to persuade the council to look at other ways of reopening the toilets.
One idea is to share the cost of running them with Scalby Parish Council.
The protesters made a mark in October last year when they marched down Scalby High Street waving potties.
Scarborough Council said the decision had not been taken lightly, but savings of tens of thousands of pounds had been made.
