Non-alcoholic drinks 'over-priced'
Soft drink
Pubs across Kent are selling over-priced soft drinks, a report has said
Publicans are doing little to help stop drinking and driving, according to a report by Kent Trading Standards.

The agency found that pubs across the county are selling over-priced soft drinks, doing little to encourage drivers to stay away from alcohol.

Head of Trading Standards Clive Bainbridge said there was a huge price difference across Kent.

He said: "Some places charge very, very highly, some charge very low.

Lemonade and cordial

"For example, half a pint of lemonade with a dash of cordial varied in Kent from 90p to 1.60.

"Similarly half a pint of orange squash varied between 30p and 60p."

He added that tomato juice had been found to cost from 70p to as much as 1.15.

Mr Bainbridge said: "We are talking huge differences in price and we can't help thinking that those who are charging at the higher end really ought to think about lowering their prices."
