States keeps hold on Jersey Water
Jersey Water will stay publicly owned for the time being.

Its future had been in doubt after an offer was made by the Jersey Electricity Company to take it over.

The Finance and Economics Committee has now decided not to sell its stake to any bidders following an independent review into the offer.

But it says the issue could be considered again once other recommendations, such as improving shareholder value, are implemented.

Of the other utilities, Jersey Telecom is wholly owned by the States but Jersey Gas is privately owned.
